Canada is pulling out of four overseas missions and shrinking a fifth, moving troops toward what it calls higher-impact work at home and with allies.

The big picture: KOBOLD (Kosovo), SNOWGOOSE (Cyprus), SOPRANO (South Sudan), and CROCODILE (DRC) are all closing. CALUMET in the Sinai stays open but gets much smaller.

By the numbers: 50-60 CAF members will be reassigned. Task Force El Gorah in the Sinai drops from about 40 to 10 by end of 2026.

Timeline: KOBOLD closes by end of 2026. SNOWGOOSE, SOPRANO, and CROCODILE wrap by mid-2027.

What's not changing: Canada keeps supporting Operations PRESENCE, CALUMET, and JADE, plus pre-deployment training through international Peace Support Training Centres.

The bottom line: Small missions, experienced people. Ottawa's betting those hands are more useful in the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific than in legacy peacekeeping roles.
