KONGSBERG
KONGSBERG has signed a new contract with General Dynamics Land Systems–Canada worth approximately $162 million to deliver more PROTECTOR RS4 Remote Weapon Systems for Canada's Armoured Combat Support Vehicle program.
The deal: This is a follow-on order, not a new program win. KONGSBERG has already delivered RS4 systems to GDLS-Canada for ACSV integration, and this contract extends that supply line rather than opening a new one.
Why it matters: The RS4 keeps showing up as the default remote weapon station for Canada's newest armoured vehicle fleet. Every repeat order like this one reinforces KONGSBERG's position inside the ACSV program and its broader relationship with GDLS-Canada, which holds the prime contract for the vehicle itself.
The system: PROTECTOR RS4 is part of KONGSBERG's broader PROTECTOR family of remote weapon systems, built to let vehicle crews engage targets without exposing themselves outside the hull. The RS4 is already fielded with defence customers globally and is designed to integrate across a range of vehicle platforms, not just the ACSV.
What they're saying: Kjetil Reiten Myhra, executive vice president at KONGSBERG and president of the Defence Systems division, called the order confirmation of the customer's confidence in PROTECTOR and said it strengthens the company's long-term partnership with GDLS-Canada.
The bigger picture: The ACSV program has been a steady source of Canadian business for both GDLS-Canada and its subcontractors. This RS4 order is the latest in a string of deliveries tied to that vehicle line, and it lands alongside other recent KONGSBERG news, including additional JSM missile deliveries to the US Air Force and a role supporting the US Department of War's XLUUV program with Oceaneering.
Contract value: NOK 1.1 billion converts to roughly CAD 162 million at current exchange rates, though the actual value realized will depend on rates at time of payment and delivery milestones.
